The ac-21996 contract was issued in October of 1941 for twenty-five thousand jackets. The contractor was Aero Clothing Company of Beacon, NY. Aero jackets have a boxy, comfortable fit with a back that is larger than the front. Most Aeros of this contract have reddish knits and are made from horsehide or cowhide. The Norshor ac-21996 is an exacting replica of this contract and features:
Mustard colored cotton lining
Available in hand-dyed seal brown veg tanned horsehide, russet horsehide, chrome tanned hand-dyed seal brown cowhide, and russet cowhide.
Large Ligne 24 ring snaps
Reproduction Talon M42 zipper
Berry red or dark brown wool knits
Chestnut or olive colored thread
The jacket is shown below in horsehide with red knits and “vintage wear” finish and russet cowhide with dark brown knits.
